NoiseNote

YOUR PERSONAL NOISE DIARY

Too much noise.
A little more clarity.

When disturbances keep happening, the details matter. NoiseNote helps you organise a diary of what happened, when, and how it affected you.

We’re rebuilding NoiseNote. The Play link opens the currently published version; the refreshed app is still being tested.

One disturbance.
A clearer record.

What happened?

FROM DISTURBANCE TO DIARY

Make the details
easier to follow.

You don’t need to remember everything at once. A useful diary brings your observations together over time.

01 / NOTICE

Note what happened.

Record the date, time and type of disturbance. Describe what you actually heard, and leave uncertain details unknown.

02 / DESCRIBE

Add the context.

Explain where you heard it and how it affected you. A short recording can add context; its length isn’t the full disturbance duration.

03 / ORGANISE

Prepare to share.

Keep a chronological record for a conversation with your landlord, housing provider or council. Check their submission instructions first.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you begin.

NoiseNote is an independent diary tool. Here’s what that means for your records.

Does NoiseNote send a complaint to my council?

No. Keeping a diary or exporting a report does not submit a complaint. Contact your council or housing provider and follow their instructions.

Will my council accept a NoiseNote report?

Requirements vary. Ask what dates, details, forms and file formats they need. A diary or recording does not guarantee acceptance, an investigation or a particular outcome.

Is a phone a certified sound-level meter?

NoiseNote’s microphone display is approximate. It should not be treated as a calibrated decibel measurement. Focus on your observations and their effect on you.

Where can I get help?
